The primary goal of The Oakleaf Club is to provide assistance and relief to the Military Health Service community in the Tidewater region. Our mission is to champion understanding and friendship amongst our community, through a variety of activities and charitable projects, promoting high "esprit de corps."
We support the Military Health Service community of the Tidewater region with a variety of charitable programs:
The Fisher House is a place where military & veteran families can stay, free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital. We help provide meals, supplies & other needed items to our local house.
We fulfill special staff requests for the clinics and departments at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and other area clinics in an effort to improve the experience for hospital visitors and staff.
We provide meal trains and other support for our members during times of change or stress, such as deployments.
We provide volunteers, food, goods, & grants for a variety of morale boosting events and ad hoc needs at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.
A variety of fundraising campaigns throughout the year provide the financial support for our efforts.
Getting involved in Oakleaf will provide you with numerous opportunities to connect with other Military Health Service Officers and Spouses, as well as get to know key leadership figures in the community. In addition to our various philanthropic activities, our Social Committee organizes events for our members to enjoy. These events include things like:
The Oakleaf Club also sponsors three events a year - a welcome event in the fall, holiday social in the winter, and a year end party in the spring.
